From Night Markets to New Openings

September in Ceres

September started strong with the Ceres Night Market on September 4. It was great to see families downtown, enjoying food, music, and local vendors. Events like this show the strength of our community and the pride we take in supporting one another.

On September 11, we paused to remember and reflect. Patriot Day is always a time to honor the lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the resilience of our nation. As I shared that day: “Today we honor the lives lost, the heroes who ran towards danger, and the resilience of a nation forever changed.” Here in Ceres, we stand together as one community in remembrance, committed to never forgetting.

This past Friday, September 12, El Rematito hosted the Mexican Independence Day celebration. Families from across Stanislaus County came together in Ceres to celebrate with music, food, and tradition. Hosted by SMBU, it was another example of how our city embraces culture and honors the heritage that continues to shape Ceres. At the same time, Corazón Azteca has been preparing a Latino Art Exhibit that will showcase creativity, history, and cultural pride, adding another dimension to how Ceres celebrates its roots. Coming up this Saturday, September 20, we’ll see the Gudhdy Tournament at Ceres River Bluff Park, an important event for our Indian community that reflects the traditions and cultural connections that are part of our city.

Later this week, the Ceres Chamber of Commerce will lead the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of Woodspring Suites on September 18. This is an important milestone for our city, bringing new jobs, investment, and opportunities to our residents. That same evening, the SLCC Mixer at Flawless Hair will give small businesses and community members another chance to connect.

Another exciting opening this month is the Ceres Grub Hub, now open at 4040 Farm Supply Drive. It’s a new spot for families and friends to gather and enjoy great food right here in town. Come down and get your grub on while supporting a local business that’s investing in our community.

The Ceres Night Market will continue on September 18 and 25 in Downtown Ceres, and every time it’s held it brings people together and supports our local economy. These events aren’t just about shopping or food, they’re about building connections and keeping our dollars in Ceres.

And of course, September also means Friday Night Lights. Both Ceres High and Central Valley High fill the stands on game nights, bringing families and friends together to cheer on our youth and show school pride.

As we move through the rest of September, I encourage everyone to keep showing up, keep supporting one another, and keep building on the momentum we’ve started this month. Ceres is strong because our community is active, connected, proud of its culture, and confident in the direction we’re headed.

If you have an event coming up in October or later this year, I want to hear about it. Share your event with me, and I’ll make sure it gets posted on my website so our whole community can stay informed and engaged. Together, let’s keep making Ceres a place where family, culture, and opportunity thrive.
